With the Carnival Panorama from Carnival Cruise Line, you can embark on a cheap cruise along the Mexican Riviera. The journey takes you from Long Beach to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada. The current price of roughly US$40 (~€34) per night is a true bargain for such a modern ship. Departures are available until December 2026.
You can currently book a 6-night cruise in an inside cabin from just US$240 (~€204) per person. However, the ocean view cabins from US$279 (~€237) and balcony cabins from US$369 (~€313) are significantly more appealing (prices per person based on double occupancy). Solo travellers can join the cruise in an inside cabin from US$437 (~€371).

The cruise price includes full board in the main and buffet restaurants, as well as coffee, water, tea, and iced tea during the buffet’s opening hours. Most onboard facilities and activities (e.g., use of sun loungers and pools on the outer deck, shows in the theatre, gym, etc.) are also included in the package.
Carnival Cruise Line adds an automatic crew gratuity of approx. US$16 (~€14) per person, per day to your onboard account.
If you live in Europe, we recommend booking through Travel-Dealz, and if you live in the USA, book via CruiseDirect, as long as the price difference is not significant. If the difference is considerable, you can choose the cheaper option, but keep in mind that the consumer guarantees are different for Americans and Europeans.
Route
Your cruise begins in Long Beach, near Los Angeles. The port is easily accessible from LAX airport and serves as the hub for Carnival’s West Coast operations.
After a relaxing day at sea, your first destination is the popular resort town of Cabo San Lucas, at the tip of the Baja California peninsula. The ship will stay here overnight, giving you plenty of time to explore the famous Land’s End arch or enjoy the nightlife.
Following another day at sea to enjoy the ship’s amenities, you’ll visit Ensenada. Known for its vibrant waterfront and proximity to the Valle de Guadalupe wine region, it is a classic Mexican port of call.
Your voyage then concludes back in Long Beach, California.

Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$40 (~€34) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.
There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.
The Ship
The Carnival Panorama was built in 2019. It is 322 meters long and 37 meters wide. The ship can accommodate up to 4,008 passengers and 1,450 crew members. It belongs to Carnival’s Vista class.
The onboard fitness center is equipped with modern machines and offers the opportunity to play table tennis, basketball, football, or volleyball. The Carnival Panorama features several pools and hot tubs, as well as a water park with slides. For those looking for a quieter experience, the art gallery or the onboard library are suitable locations. Evening entertainment includes shows in the theater or movie screenings under the stars.
Dining options are plentiful and cater to all tastes. Included in the fare are casual favourites like Guy’s Burger Joint and BlueIguana Cantina, as well as meals in the main dining rooms and the Lido Marketplace buffet. For a special treat, you can visit specialty restaurants such as the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse or Bonsai Sushi for an additional fee.
The onboard language is English, so we recommend having a basic understanding of the language. The onboard currency is the US dollar, and you can settle your bill at the end of the trip most conveniently with major credit cards or by depositing cash (in USD).

Editor’s Note: If you are a fan of traveling with Costa or enjoy cruise lines with a party atmosphere, these Carnival Panorama cruises are a great option. However, if you are looking for a quieter vibe departing from California, I recommend to check cruises with Norwegian Cruise Line or Princess Cruises.
Getting There & Back
The cruise starts in Long Beach (Los Angeles), so you will need to book a flight to Los Angeles if you want to fly non-stop or one stop from Europe. A good example is flying from Rome with Norse Atlantic Airways, with the outbound flight on February 7, 2026 and the return flight on February 14, 2026. The following combination can be booked from €509 (including checked luggage):
